Actually Ben if you look at my profile you would see that I’m actually a vegan and an animal rights activist, so you don’t need to lecture me about humanity’s mistreatment of the animal kingdom. I’m ethically consistent when I say there is nothing wrong with being an animal — that is precisely why I’m a vegan and an animal rights activist. I wonder if YOU are a vegan though? Or do you just like to make the “all sides are equally bad” argument as a way to excuse your own lack of action?

(Of course being vegan doesn’t mean you have no negative impact on the environment, but it certainly has better impact than being an animal consumer does, some action is better than no action).

I suggest you watch the great documentary Unity for an example of how animal rights, religious/secular pluralism and Great Compassion for all life could transform the planet. It might make you a little less nihilistic.
