Absolutely. I am one of the people who had a life-changing experience on psychedelics, it was actually self directed, with LSD and Alan Watts, leading to a mystical experience that cured me of my eating disorder.
However it was only several weeks later that I terminated therapy with my psychotherapist. And over a year later that I wrote about it in my article "thinking of the self in the third person".

If psychedelics lead to a genuine long lasting breakthrough, as they did for me, people will want to talk about it long after the first day afterwards. Because they will be certain that the treatment was long term effective not just short term.

I do tell people about my experience. But I also tell them that my recovery involved traditional psychotherapy, and learning to intuitively eat as well.

I also tell them about the potential for self medication with psychedelics to go dangerously wrong, such as when my fiance had a delusional experience on mushrooms and shot someone thinking they were a terrorist.
